When you run a small candle and wax melt business, it is really easy to compare yourself to the brands with glossy boxes, thick ribbons and fancy coatings. I see them too. Their products look instantly “premium” and sometimes I catch myself thinking my own packaging looks a bit too simple. It can feel disheartening when you know how hard you work, yet your eco friendly choices are not always the ones that make the strongest first impression.
But here is the truth I keep coming back to. Almost everything about my products is clean, biodegradable and designed with care for the planet. To make my packaging look overly grand, I would have to use things that are not recyclable or not biodegradable. Plastics, foil coatings, heavy laminates. Materials that look beautiful for a moment and then sit in landfill for years. That is not a compromise I am willing to make.
Why I Choose Simple
So my packaging stays simple. Kraft, clean layouts, natural tones and minimal waste. It reflects how I work. Honest, mindful and steady. It might not shout the loudest, but it has its own quiet confidence. There is a whole community of customers who actually prefer it this way. People who are tired of glossy greenwashing. People who want products that feel real.
